ABOUT ME

WireStruck is the handmade jewelry made by Jen Merryman Bailey. I am self-taught from books and tutorials with no formal training in jewelry making. I have always been interested in arts and crafts but I did not start making jewelry until 2012. I first became interested in making wire jewelry after seeing a few tutorials on Pinterest. After I tried a few, I was hooked and continued to find out as much as I could about wire jewelry and wire weaving in particular. You don't really see this type of jewelry in any of the jewelry stores where I live. I have discovered many wire jewelry artists who have inspired me and whose talent astound me (Nicole Hanna, Lisa Barth, Delia Stone, Abby Hook, Szarka, Izzy Gumbo, Kaska, Lena Lyashevskaya, Mary Tucker, Iza Malczyk, IMNIUM, Sarah Thompson just to name a few!). Please take the time to look them up since they all do amazing work!  Some of these artists sell tutorials which I’ve used in making some of my pieces.

I get great satisfaction from making wire jewelry. You start out with wire, a few pliers and maybe some beads or stones and you end up with this wearable piece of art.  My own style and designs are emerging as I learn new techniques.  I make the majority of my jewelry with solid copper or sterling silver.  There are a few local jewelry stores which now have my jewelry for sale.

My other favorite interest besides making jewelry is photography. I started working for photo labs in the late 90's and then had the pleasure of working with two great photographers that mainly focused on wedding photography. I take photos often with nature and animals being my favorite subjects.

My family and friends have been so supportive of my newly found passion and pushed me to start selling my jewelry. My husband in particular has not only been patient with all the time I've devoted to jewelry making, but he himself is now starting to make his own jewelry!  Can't wait to see where this takes us.

Thanks for your interest!
